Demetra P. Vartzikos
Adjunct Faculty, Interior Design Program
Demetra P. Vartzikos has a bachelor's degree in architecture from University of Illinois at Chicago and a master's degree in architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology. Ms. Vartzikos has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of architecture and interior design.
Her experience covers all the facets of architectural and interior design practice, which include the design process, interior design, contract administration and construction management of small- and large-scale buildings. Her employment background includes working for large and small firms including having her own firm for ten years. She has worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Perkins + Will, and Criezis Architects, Inc. She functioned as a member or director of teams for the above firms.
Representative projects include the University of Tizi-Ouzou and University Housing Complex, Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria; Northwestern Research and Educational Building, Chicago; 900 N. Michigan, Chicago; Rush Walton Parking Facility, Chicago; Lake Forest Hospital Child Care Center, Lake Forest, Ill.; and numerous residential and commercial projects.
As Program Coordinator for the Interior Design department at Harrington, Demetra enjoys teaching and bringing her broad experience into the classroom. The classes she teaches include ADA & Building Codes, Drafting, Drafting and Perspective, Interior Design II and Interior Design III.
